# Federated Graph

> A federated graph refers to a single, unified data graph that is composed of multiple subgraphs.

Before you can interact with a federated graph, you need to [`create`](/cli/federated-graph/create) it. Each federated graph is mapped to a [Cosmo Router](/router/intro) service that can respond to the relevant GraphQL schema.
